Exclusive and Unique Abstract Creations by Scottish artist living in Scotland/Mallorca
Rachael was born in Edinburgh but grew up and spent most of her life in the small fishing community of Macduff, North East Scotland. Married at 17, with three children by the age of 21, she gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Development in the field of Education (BAPD) whilst teaching Beauty Therapy as a Further Education Lecturer.
As the children grew, she was able to incorporate her deep passion for lead singing in rock bands, along with solo and session work. Coming from a musical family her Dad was the guitarist in a popular sixties band, and her parents performed as a musical duo.
Rachaels’ Father, Bill Brown, was a well known local Artist specialising in land and sea scapes, with a particular love for the trawler boats of the community. Before his passing in 2012 he produced hundreds of works in both oil and watercolour from all over Scotland and Ireland. In his prime he was also honoured to take part in ‘Watercolour Challenge’, a then popular Channel 4 TV Production.
So music, art and an encouragement of self expression were an integral part of her early life and have helped her become the professional, self taught, exhibiting artist she is today. Currently dividing her time between Scotland and Mallorca, and working mainly in acrylic on canvas, Rachaels artwork is very unusual. She creates a thoroughly magical mix of loose expression combined with intricate detail. Her unconventional use of texture such as sgraffito and impasto techniques, excitingly come together to produce work which is both highly individual and powerfully effective. Each finished piece is different, yet still reflecting her unique and mesmerising style.
Rachaels’ philosophy is simple – “It is never too late to delve within yourself and see what you might find!”
